Quick update

I haven't had any time to go birding. Which really sucks, you know. The White-crowned Sparrows are going to be gone soon, and I'll have seen them maybe 3 or 4 times? I love White-crowns. But hey, at least I've been getting good grades on my essays and midterms. And the week after this one is Spring Break, so maybe I'll finally get some time to bird! Fingers crossed as tightly as they can cross!

I haven't been totally cooped up in my room-- I have taken a couple of hikes and wandered around campus a bit!

This picture is from last weekend, when I hiked behind my dorm. The views of the Bay Area are marvelous up on that hill. And I did see some Wrentits, Anna's Hummingbirds, and a few juvenile White-crowned Sparrows on that hike, so I left happy!

This one is from Friday, when a friend and I hiked up to the Big C behind campus to watch the sunset. That's our dear Campanile in the center!

And I've been keeping a list of birds I've seen around campus! Here's what it looks like so far.
  1. Bewick's Wren
  2. Dark-eyed Junco
  3. Townsend's Warbler
  4. American Crow
  5. Anna's Hummingbird
  6. Common Raven
  7. Ruby-crowned Kinglet
  8. Song Sparrow
  9. Yellow-rumped Warbler
  10. Northern Mockingbird
  11. California Towhee
  12. Nuttall's Woodpecker
  13. Hermit Thrush
  14. Purple Finch
  15. Oak Titmouse
  16. Allen's Hummingbird
  17. Chestnut-backed Chickadee
  18. Brown Creeper
A pretty good list, if I do say so myself! And I know for a fact that there are some Accipiters and falcons flying around campus, I just haven't gotten good looks at them yet. I'm excited to see what birds are going to surprise me during my time at Berkeley!

Hope all of your Marches are going well, and that the birds are treating you well!
